『프리환기 Prix Whanki 2020』

환기재단의 설립과 함께 제정된 『프리환기 Prix Whanki』는 세계 각 곳에서 활동하는 작가들을 후원, 동시대적 시각을 중심으로 모두를 위한 열린 문화예술의 장을 마련하는데 기여해 온 공모사업입니다. 창작자의 창작의지를 독려하고 열정을 후원하는 『프리환기 Prix Whanki』는 지원자격, 작품장르 등에 제한을 두지 않고 진행되는 작품공모로서 작가의 창작과 예술여정, 그 과정의 시간에 우선적으로 주목합니다. 본 공모의 최종선정작은 환기미술관 학예실과의 워크샵을 통해 <프리환기 Prix Whanki 2020 특별기획전>으로 기획되어 소개됩니다.

『프리환기 Prix Whanki 2020』이 많은 작가님들께 창작의 새로운 발견, 더 큰 도약을 위한 계기가 되기를 바라며 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드립니다.

■ 응모자격(기준): 만 25세 이상, 개인전 1회 이상의 경력을 지닌 국내·외 작가

■ 공모내용 :

- 본 작품공모는 환기미술관 별관 2층에 위치한 [108.38㎡의 공간]에 작가님만의 [작품공간]을 중첩시킨 ‘공간 특정적’인 스토리텔링의 작품을 대상으로 진행됩니다.

- 본 공모는 제시된 특정 공간을 조건으로 하여 [하나의 스토리텔링으로 전개되는 작품안]을 대상으로 하며, 물리적인 공간이 [작품안의 공간]으로 전환되는 ‘공간 특정적’인 요소가 중요한 심사 기준입니다. 단순 ‘작품설치안’, ‘전시기획안’은 심사 대상이 아닙니다.

- 본 공모는 작가공모가 아닌 ‘작품공모’이며 지원장르에 대한 제한이 없습니다.

- 공간 정보: 가로 13.74m / 세로 7.98m / 높이 5.48m

■ 1차 선정작 발표: 2020. 6. 10 (수) / 개별통보

■ 1차 선정작을 대상으로 진행될 Open-Presentation은 6-7월, 당선작 특별전 기획을 위한 워크샵은 8-9월, 특별전은 10-11월에 진행될 예정이며, 진행일정은 신종 코로나 바이러스 확산방지를 위한 대책에 따라 변동될 수 있습니다. 자세한 일정은 홈페이지 공지사항을 참조하여 주십시오.

『Prix Whanki 2020』

Established with Whanki Foundation, 『Prix Whanki』 is a competition supporting artists from all over the world and contributing to open the cultural and artistic arena for everyone with a contemporary perspective. 『Prix Whanki』 encourages artists‘ will of creation for artworks and supports their passion by prioritizing artist’s creation, art journey, and span of its very process without setting any limitations on qualifications of applicants or genres of artworks.  The artworks of the selected finalists in the competition will be introduced in planned through a workshop with Whanki Museum‘s Curatorial office.

We hope that Prix Whanki 2020 will be an opportunity for many artists to be artistically inspired and motivated, and kindly encourage your interest and participation.

■ Eligibility: artists from all over the world who are over 25 years old and have work experience of at least one solo exhibition.

■ Deion

- The competition will consider artworks with ’space-specific’ storytelling that projects the artists’ [own space of work], which will be displayed in the exhibition room with the size of [108.38㎡] located on the second floor of Annex building of Whanki Museum.

- The competition aims [artwork proposal that develops into unified storytelling] based on the given specific space, and it will be evaluated by criteria such as ‘space-specific’ factors that transform the physical space into [space within the artwork]. A mere ‘artwork installation proposal’ or ‘exhibition’ will not be subject to review.

- This competition is not a call for the artists but for ’the artworks submission’ regardless of the genre of the works.

■ The first selection announcement: June 10 (Wed), 2020 / individually notified

■ Open-presentation for the first selection will be held in between June and July, a workshop for the special exhibition of the finalists’ artworks will be held in between August and September, and the special exhibition will be held from October to November. The schedule may vary depending on the measures to prevent the Coronavirus from spreading. Please refer to the notice board on our website for the detailed schedule.
