섬유예술을 전공한 설치미술가 이은숙은 북한에 가족을 두고 온 실향민 아버지의 영향을 받아, 전쟁과 이산가족의 문제 그리고 분단의 아픔을 작품의 주제로 다룬다. 라이트와 형광물질로 처리가 된 실을 이용한 작품들은 어둠 속에서 더 빛을 발하며 극적인 효과를 자아낸다. 작가는 작업 속에서 ‘실’이라는 매체에 집중한다. 작가에게 ‘실’은 전세와 현세 그리고 내세를 이어주는 연결고리이다. 자신의 아픔과 가족의 아픔을 통해 모든 이들의 아픔을 위로하는 작가의 프로젝트는 일련의 역사적 사건의 희생자들이 겪은 고통이 잊히지 않도록 공헌한다.
